Adoption Policies

Golden Greetings!

Thank you for your interest in the adoption of a Rescue Golden Retriever. If you can provide the special home Golden deserves, we should be able to offer you a dog that will be a wonderful addition to your family.

Adoption Policy

You must be a person/family who has qualified in our criteria for proper, responsible ownership. This minimally includes, but is not limited to:

1. Inside/outside lifestyle (mostly inside-regardless of weather), and a safe, supervised outside environment, ideally a fenced yard.  Dog will be given 2 weeks to adjust in new surroundings and adapt to the new home and family.

2. Dog will be returned to this Rescue if the Adopter cannot keep it.  Dog cannot be sold to anyone. It must returned to GRRR.  It cannot be used for "attack", fighting dog, or experimental purposes.

3. Dog will have shelter from the elements at all times, a fenced in area or on-leash area when outside, and be given proper food and drinking water.

4. Dog will be kept on leash whenever outside of a fenced area. Dog will NOT be transported in an open truck.

5. Dog will wear a collar with current license tags, and name tag with Adopter's address and/or phone. Dog , be licensed within 4 weeks of acquisition.

6. Adopter may be required to successfully complete a basic obedience class with the dog.

7. Adopter agrees to notify GRRR Rescue of any address or phone change.

8. Adopter agrees to allow GRRR to periodically check on the dog to assure compliance with this agreement. 

9. Adopter agrees to notify GRRR if the dog is lost or stolen and promises to run an ad and check shelters in person.

The GRRR, Inc. Rescue Service reserves the right to deny adoption at any step in the process if we feel that you are not a suitable owner, or if the Golden you have selected, in our opinion, is not the best dog for you, your lifestyle or environment.
