We adopted Chet in January 2010 with another GRRR dog, as the two became buddies while in foster care. Chet was just a fantastic senior dog. He came wherever we called (when if it was another dog's name), he loved walks (his tail would wag the entire time) and he loved attention (giving you a pet with his paw for more ear rubs). Chet was fine with whatever we wanted to do--he was an agreeable, sweetheart of a dog. Everyone in our family loves and misses him. Chester was just that special dog that could touch anyone's heart.

James Soldan 1/21/2011
Thank you to everyone who donated in memory of James Soldan of Fenton, Michigan! Here is a poem from his family.

We asked you what you wanted for Christmas. You replied, "Just One More". A gift request that might be hard to fulfill, to be sure. Nevertheless, we set out to get you "Just One More". We tried to order it off the internet or in the store. But like so many years in the past, you got this gift for yourself. This year you played Santa And all of his tiny elves. In February they told you not too many more weeks. Ten months later we'd say you faked them out good with the ultimate deke. You battled and fought during good days and bad. And now that Christmas is here "Just One More" is yours to be had. So we thought and we thought of a meaningful gift. Something extraordinary to give you a lift. A present different and rare, perhaps a win from the Lions? But who are we kidding, they ain't even tryin'.

We thought about you and the lives that you touch. You make a big impression to many you mean so much. I knew we had to put something great under the tree. Something to inspire you, the way you inspire me. The gifts that you've given made Christmas special for everyone. What can we give the man who won't be outdone? We looked at Marty and thought about a pet. Now look at Val...And other dog is a gift that you'll never get! Marty's a good old boy and he's brought lots of love. He knows lots of tricks and is a blessing from above. We can rescue one more and save a good dogs soul. Or maybe that would be just too out of control? So we donated in your name. To the wonderful group GRRR. To help some of the dogs with the long golden fur. Every golden deserves "Just one More" too. We hope that you love our Christmas gift to you!

Merry Christmas 2010 with all our love

Val, Kristin, Matt and Rick.

Milo Hansen
Milo came to us through GRRR in 2008. He was such a joy to us after having lost our golden to old age.  He immediately bonded to us and settled in nicely. He was nothing short of a funny character! He sure kept us on our toes with his antics, primarily his knack for stealing from you without even knowing you'd been stolen from! He was such a sweet gentle boy and seemed to know that his charm could win over anyone. He was simply wonderful with his elderly labby sister and became fast friends when his new big brother lab showed up later on. He would snuggle close between our heads at bedtime and, like many goldens, couldn't get enough attention. Sadly, we lost Milo to cancer very suddenly only two short years later. Although our time together was brief he wons our hearts forever. Thanks to GRRR we were able to know and love him. We think of him daily and can only hope that someday we can find another golden boy half as wonderful as he.
