Alena is a 3 year old Golden Retriever/Malamute mixed girl who is a typical velcro golden retriever. Alena or Zelania as we call her is crate trained and housebroken. She came from a backyard breeder in Indiana along with four other dogs that came into our rescue. She is picky about other dogs that she gets along with, so we would prefer to place her as an only dog. She isn’t necessarily dog reactive and just prefers to not share her people and toys. And she LOVES her people and only wants to be near them. Alena would not be a good choice for a family who has cats or other small animals.
Zalena has been excellent in her foster home. She is a really nice dog her foster mom says, who loves people and gives you her special hugs all the time. She had a recent visit to Lowes and the Farm Store where she sits nicely to get treats. In fact, she was featured on Facebook live during our last "Meet and Greet" event September 16th. Alena has been with kids that are at least 10 years old. Alena knows lots of commands. She eats out of a raised feeder and waits until she gets a command to "eat". Alena knows "down", "up", "kisses", "hugs" and lots more. She loves to take walks and walks great with a harness. Alena carries a blue ball around with her everywhere she goes. She is great in the car and jumps right in and sits down. If you are interested in adopting Alena, the first step to adopt any dog is to read "How to Adopt"
