Teagan has a bit of sad story. He was found running as a stray in Toledo and was taken to the Lucas County Canine Care & Control. He waited awhile for his turn to be adopted and out of the shelter as that place was making him pretty scared. When dogs are in a shelter environment they will often not behave the way they would in a home. Unfortunately, that can mean getting put on the euthanasia list. That is what happened to Teagan. We were told if we couldn't take Teagan he would be euthanized the next day as the shelter was way over crowded. Shelters do the best they can to find rescues to take dogs and get the public to adopt their dogs but when there are way more dogs then there are cages to put them in some horrible decisions have to be made.

GRRR was lucky enough to find a great 11th hour foster, who is very dog savvy as he is a vet, so his life could be saved. Teagan is 1 to 2 years old. His foster says he is high energy, will play fetch all day long, and is having a great time playing with the other dog in the home.

What a difference for Teagan from the look on his face behind the fence at the shelter to lying in the grass or sleeping after a fun day of playing! This is a perfect example of how fostering saves lives! Teagan would be best in a home with another playmate. If you have children, older children like teens would be best.

Teagan's foster was going to be out of town for a long weekend so another foster took Teagan home for the weekend. What we found out is this boy really likes to play! He got along just fine with five dogs in his foster home home that ranges from 25 to 125 pounds! He also gets along with cats and the teenagte daughter. He and another of the high energy foster home golden boy played until they were ready to drop over! He went on vacation over the Fourth of July weekend. Here's what temporary foster had to say: "We’re watching him while his foster family is out of town. What I know so far is that he is OBSESSED with fetch, rides great in the car, has done great with our dogs even though they are both not having it! He is a little unsure of the girls at this point, but I think he’ll come around to seeing how much fun they are! Teagan is ready for someone that wants to give him his forever home!"
"24 hours in with this handsome guy! We worked on leash walking today, he’s a quick learner! He doesn’t mind the rain, or storms, or the fireworks! He slept like a champ in his crate & doesn’t mind going in it when we leave. Poor guy, he just wants a doggie friend!"
"He LOVES the water, like a true retriever! He had fun playing in the sprinklers this morning on our walk! 💦 And this afternoon we took an adventure across the creek & into the woods! He chased the ducks & splashed in the water! 🦆💦 And tonight, it’s back to fetch! He sits so perfectly waiting for the ball! 🎾 He’s such a good boy!"
